This years charity is CRY and was proposed by Dave & Rosie Morford.
CRY stands for Cardiac Risk in the Young and is a charity that we first became aware of nearly 3 years ago after the sudden death of our nephew Jamie.
Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people under the age of 35 die from an undiagnosed heart condition, 80% of them with no prior symptoms.
Heart screening has been shown to reduce the incidence of sudden cardiac deaths by 89%.
CRY work to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths (YSCD) by promoting awareness of the risk; providing free heart screening sessions across the whole country for young people between the ages of 14 & 34; funding research into YSCD; providing support and counselling for bereaved families and friends and help and support for any people diagnosed with a heart condition.
Screening could save a young persons life and in 2017 CRY were able to screen over 27,500 young people.
